Insurance is included in the daily rental rates. The hirer is responsible for the first $3,000 ($3,500 if 21-24 years) of the cost of damage to the third party property or rented vehicle. This excess can be reduced by the purchase of the Excess Reduction Option (see below). Standard Insurance Cover 25 Years & Older 21-24 Years Excess (per incident) NZ$3,000 NZ$3,500 Excess Reduction Options

1) Option 1 - By paying NZ$12 per day you can reduce the excess/bond from NZ$3,000 to NZ$1,200 (or NZ$1,500 if under 25 years). Under this option the Vehicle Security Deposit required is NZ$1,200 (or NZ$1,500 if under 25 years).

2) Option 2 - By paying NZ$22 per day you can reduce the excess/bond from NZ$3,000 to NZ$300 (or NZ$400 if under 25 years). Under this option the Vehicle Security Deposit required is NZ$300 (or NZ$400 if under 25 years). This option also provides tyre and windscreen cover (excluding sunroof where applicable).

Vehicle Security Deposit (Bond)

A Vehicle Security Deposit is required to be paid on pick-up of the campevan which will be secured by signing a separate security bond in the form of a credit card imprint or a deposit. This bond is not physically charged to your credit card but merely a pre-authorisation to the value of the bond will be placed on the card. The Security Deposit is fully refundable (or the pre-authorisation removed) provided the camper is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior, full fuel tanks (fuel being petrol, diesel and LPG gas) and all inventory accounted for.

Insurance Exclusions

Insurance and Excess Reduction options do not cover water submersion or salt-water damage, damage or loss of lights, tyres (unless hirer has taken Option 2 excess reduction), roof, underbody and campevan interior, and any damage caused from the use of snow chaings. Excess options also do not cover the cost to replace keys which have been lost or the cost of retrieval of keys which have been locked inside a vehicle. All excess options are void if the terms of the rental agreement are breached.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out a travel insurance policy. In conjunction with Comprehensive Travel Insurance Ltd we can now offer an extremely competitive travel insurance policy for NZ. There are two policies available - comprehensive and essentials. You can purchase either New Zealand only cover or New Zealand & Australia cover. The policy provides cover for your vehicle security deposit, medical expenses, dental treatment, and travel delays, recreation sports (bungee jumping, parachuting etc), frequent flyer points, and much more.
