RENTAL DURATION AND CHARGES
Campervans are available from 8am to 4pm on the day you commence your hire and must be returned by 4pm at termination unless prior arrangements have been made for a late drop off (subject to availability) or a late fee of $50 per hour will apply. All charges are calculated on a calendar day basis. The day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the campervan’s return is counted as the final day of the rental. When a rental moves from one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both rates. Late pick-up or early return of campervan, does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.

To secure a confirmed booking, a deposit of NZ$300.00 is required to be paid by credit card (visa or master card). The balance of any hire will be automatically charged to your credit card 14 days prior to the hire commencing. If you wish to pay by other means please notify us at the time of booking.
CANCELLATIONS
Unless cancellation is made within 5 days of making the booking and more than 30 days prior to the pick up date, the initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, confirmed hires subsequently cancelled incur a cancellation fee as below:

REFUNDS
No refunds can be given for any unused portion of your holiday including late pick up or early return of vehicle. However your travel insurance may in some circumstances cover the unused portion. Refunds for hires paid and cancelled prior to pick up will be subject to our cancellation policy.
AVAILABILTY OF VEHICLE
Campervans cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category. In the unlikely event that the campervan is not available at the commencement of your rental due to it being repaired from a mechanical breakdown or accident or late in return from a previous rental then we will endeavour to substitute another campervan in its place. If your rental period is reduced or delayed as a result then you will be entitled to a refund of any monies paid for the period of the rental that the campervan was not provided. We will not be liable for any other costs, charges or damages (whether consequential or not) as a result of a delay in providing or a failure to provide the campervan. All rights are reserved to refuse any hire under any circumstance.
ONE WAY RENTALS
A one-way rental fee of NZ$250 may apply for rentals between the North and South Islands.
PICTON AND QUEENSTOWN
An additional location fee of NZ$250 may apply to all campervans dropping off in Picton or $300 to drop off in Queenstown.
RETURN OF VEHICLE
The campervan is to be returned in a reasonably clean and tidy condition, undamaged with full fuel tanks (being petrol, diesel, LPG gas), emptied waste tanks, cleaned living appliances, undamaged interior and with all living equipment accounted for. Failure to do so will result in additional charges.
Campervans that are returned excessively dirty will incur a cleaning charge of up to $500. "Excessively dirty" will be determined by the manager of the depot you return the campervan to and is defined by "mess, stains and odour" that are difficult to remove from the campervan.
To change the drop-off destination after the rental has commenced you must obtain authorisation from the Dragon Wagons. No refund is available for early returns.
RENTAL EXTENSION
This is subject to availability and first obtaining authorisation. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card on confirmation of the rental extension. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a daily fee of NZ$150 in addition to the daily rate.

INSURANCE
Insurance is included in the daily hire rate. All campervans are insured for the damage to the campervan or to the property of a Third Party. The standard excess the hirer is responsible for is NZ$3,000 of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented campervan, including single vehicle accident, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the campervan is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage) and an administration fee of $150 per claim.
No Insurance or Excess Reduction options cover water submersion or salt-water damage, damage or loss of lights, tyres or windscreen (unless hirer has taken Option 2 excess reduction), roof, underbody, campervan interior, any damage caused from the use of snow chains or the cost to replace keys which have been lost or the cost of retrieval of keys which have been locked inside a campervan. All excess options are void if the terms of the rental agreement are breached.
The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental. The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. Please note that insurance is not compulsory in New Zealand and there is no guarantee that these damages will be recovered and third party claims can take months or even years to resolve.
EXCESS REDUCTION OPTIONS
The NZ$3,000 excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of the Excess Reduction Options. Under Excess Reduction Option 1 a non-refundable payment of NZ$12 per day reduces the excess to NZ$1,200. Under Excess Reduction Option 2 a non-refundable payment of NZ$22 per day reduces the excess to NZ$300 and includes cover for tyres and windscreen damage.
INSURANCE E XCLUSIONS
The hirer acknowledges by the signing of this agreement that they are aware of all the exclusions and damage not covered by insurance, and are immediately liable for payment.
All Insurance Cover and Excess Reduction Options are void if any of the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached and the hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. All insurance cover will be made void if any of the following ‘Exclusions’ are breached:
a) Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle: The cost of repairing overhead or roof damage caused by contact between the vehicle and objects overhanging or obstructing the path of the vehicle or if damage is caused by persons placing objects on the roof of the vehicle. The cost of repairing any under body damage, and any resulting damage from that under body damage, including mechanical damage to the vehicle;
b) Tyre and windscreen damage unless tyre and windscreen cover has been purchased.
c) Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to: any vehicle submersion, creek or river crossing, driving through low plain flooded areas, beach driving;

e) The driver of the vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or any drug that affects his/her ability to drive the vehicle;
f) The vehicle is in an unsafe or unroadworthy condition, such condition arising during the course of the hire, that caused or contributed to the damage or loss, and the hirer or driver was aware or should have been aware of the unsafe or unroadworthy condition of the vehicle;

h) The vehicle is driven by an unlicensed person;
i) Drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers that have a licence that has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learners or probationary licence;
j) The vehicle is wilfully or recklessly damaged or lost by the hirer, a nominated driver, or a person under the hirer’s authority including (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet/roof/body kit of the vehicle, any damage arising from misjudgments of dimensions or any damage caused to the vehicle through the use of tyre chains);
k) The driver is convicted of a traffic offence while driving the vehicle and/or damage to the hired vehicle or third party vehicle/property as a result of the hirer being proven not to have abided by the current road rules;
l) The vehicle was being driven on restricted roads;

q) Damage to appliances or the Vehicle interior unless in the case of a Motor accident;

s) The vehicle was operated outside the terms of this agreement or any agreed extension of this agreement;
t) Failure to complete an insurance claim form within 24 hours of an accident may make the hirer totally liable.
VEHICLE SECURITY DEPOSIT
A Vehicle Security Deposit is required to be paid on pick-up of the campervan which will be secured by signing a separate security bond in the form of a credit card imprint or a deposit. This bond is not physically charged to your credit card but merely a pre-authorisation to the value of the bond will be placed on the card. The Security Deposit is fully refundable (or the pre-authorisation removed) provided the campervan is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior, emptied waste tanks, undamaged interior and with full fuel tanks (fuel being petrol, diesel and LPG gas). Where the campervan has been returned outside office hours and the campervan has damage to the windscreen or body not covered by insurance, the hirer will be charged and sent a letter summarizing the cost of repairs.

VEHICLE REPAIRS
All campervans are registered with the Automobile Association (AA) for 24 hour roadside assistance. This service covers any mechanical faults with the vehicle. The AA service operates 24hrs, however, for mechanical repairs outside office hours (including weekends and public holidays), some delays may occur. It can also be difficult to gain access to mechanical help in remote areas due to limited trading hours and/or availability of parts. Dragon Wagons do not take any responsibility for these setbacks and will not refund for down time caused by these delays. However, we will always endeavour to have your campervan repaired in the shortest time possible.
All non mechanical call-outs will incur a call-out charge. Non mechanical faults include running our of fuel, keys being locked inside the campervan or lost, flat batteries as a result of lights or keys being left on, a breakdown as a result of damage caused in an accident. In the unlikely event of a mechanical breakdown faults or problem occurring during your hire, you are authorised to effect reasonable repairs up to a maximum of NZ$200 (provided you were not responsible for the damage) without having to contact us. You must produce a receipt on the return of your campervan to get a refund. For any amounts in excess of NZ$200, you must contact us for authorisation prior to the repairs being carried out. Unless Excess Reduction Option 2 is selected, puncture and tyre repairs are the responsibility of the customer unless the tyre is found to be defective.
MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN AND ACCIDENTS
If the campervan becomes damaged or requires salvage, whether because of an accident or breakdown, it must be reported to Dragon Wagons within 24 hours in order to give Dragon Wagons the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so may compromise any claims for compensation.
In the event that the campervan becomes inoperable through breakdown or damage during the rental and where it is unlikely that the campervan will be repaired within 48 hours from notification, we will use all reasonable endeavours to provide the client with a replacement campervan. The availability of an exchange campervan is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. If an exchange campervan is required as a result of an accident, the hirer is responsible for making their own way to the nearest Dragon Wagons branch. Dragon Wagons may offer the hirer the option of paying an 'Exchange Vehicle Relocation Fee' to send a driver or tow-truck to deliver the exchange vehicle to the hirer's location. The hirer will pay for any costs relating to delivery of a change-over vehicle as a result of any single vehicle accident. This charge applies irrespective of any excess reduction taken. No replacement campervan will be provided without the receipt of a completed insurance claim form where one is required and it is at the discretion of Dragon Wagons as to whether we choose to release another campervan to you following an accident (depending on the circumstances).
If such replacement involves obtaining a vehicle from a third party hirer, then the customer agrees to pay any extra one-off or daily charges incurred in obtaining that vehicle.
Dragon Wagon’s is only liable for refunding the time that the vehicle was actually in repair and will not be liable for any other costs (including alternative accommodation or food requirements), charges or damages (whether consequential or not) suffered by the hirer during that time or as a result of any delay or failure of providing a replacement vehicle. Dragon Wagon’s liability extends only to a refund of hire for total days the vehicle is not used. Any malfunctions of the Radio/CD player, cooler/fridge, water pump, cooker or air conditioning are not considered mechanical breakdowns and downtime will not be paid for these items.
We accept no responsibility after the termination of the rental agreement for any problem for which we were not notified during the hire.
CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for such variations.

The administration fee per fine will be NZ$75 plus any associated court costs.
We will send the hirer a copy of the infringement notice and any reminder notice as soon as practical after it is received by us. The hirer has the right to challenge, complain about, query or object to the alleged offence to the issuing enforcement authority, and seek a court hearing (within 56 days from the date of issue of the infringement notice or 28 days from the date of issue of the reminder notice).
TOLL ROAD CHARGES
A toll charge applies when using the Northern Gateway toll road. The fee applies for each time you use the toll road and needs to be paid in advance or within 3 days of using the toll road. You can pay at the pay machines situated at each end of the toll, by calling 0800 40 20 20 with a credit card or online at http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/tollroad. Failure to pay will result in an extra infringement fee. To avoid the toll road you can use the coastal and more scenic road through Orewa, Waiwera and Puhoi for free. If Dragon Wagons receive an infringement fee we will charge your credit card a $25 fee on top of the toll charge and fee to cover administration costs associated with paying your fine.
